Bansko Lift Pass Information
For Winter ‘14 Bansko will be using hands-free, gate access systems to the lifts (sometimes called RFID). Benefits to our guests will be faster, smoother access, more time on the slopes. To access lifts this winter, all guests will require a Bansko Lift Card, a credit card sized lift ticket with smart card technology. Bansko Lift Cards will be available to purchase up to 2 weeks prior to arrival from the ticket office by the Gondola with a 5BGN refundble deposit. Lift tickets can be purchased online, packaged with ski equipment hire or lessons! They are even more discounted if packaged with hotel accomodation. See latest offers here.
How does it work? The Bansko Lift Card uses RFID technology to notify gates at each lift to open when you approach. This eliminates the need for you or the lift operator to scan your ticket. Simply place your Bansko Lift Card in an empty torso pocket and the gate will open as long as you have days loaded onto the card.
Purchase Bansko Lift Card + Ski Hire or Lessons. Pre book for saving time, money and hassles.
Bansko Lift Card FAQ
Q: Why are we using RFID technology, AKA the J Card?
Answer: There are many guest benefits to RFID technology including hands-free access to lift and reload capabilities providing direct to lift access.
Q: What is RFID
Answer: RFID is a small chip and antenna integrated into your ticket, or season’s pass. When you pass through the lift line, this technology uses an electromagnetic field to register with the gates at the base of our lifts. If you have skier days loaded on your card the gates will open.
Q: Wil RFID interfere with my wireless technology?
Answer: The radio frequencies used by RFID are assigned by regulatory agencies around the world to help ensure that no interference occurs.
Q: Can RFID be used to access my personal information?
Answer: Each unique RFID tag contains a multiple digit number randomly associated with a user profile. This profile is kept as a secure component of our point of sale system and user database. In accordance with privacy laws, your personal information is not shared with any third parties without your consent and you have access online via the eStore to check and update your preferences.
Q: Can RFID cards "survive"; in pieces of clothing, washing machines and dryers?
Answer: We do not recommend washing or drying a garment with the Bansko Lift Card in it. The heat and moisture used in washers and dryers could ruin your Lift Card. We recommend removing your Lift Card from your garments before you wash them.
Q: How widely used is RFID technology?
Answer: RFID technology is used in wide variety of industries and applications. Recently, RFID has been added to some state's drivers licenses and passports as a cross border travel document to denote citizenship and identity. Your automobile almost certainly has an immobilizer to prevent it from being stolen. It has been over ten years since the Ford Motor Company first introduced an RFID immobilizer and such systems are common in vehicles manufactured by the other major manufacturers. RFID has also been used extensively in toll collection, inventory control, building security, and library systems.
Q: Can a magnet destroy an RFID tag?
Answer: No. The chip information is not stored magnetically. Use of a magnet or other erasing devices has no effect whatsoever on the chip.
